Public Address Systems

Bosch introduces a full range of volume controls and source selectors in order to provide a complete P.A. solution. Public address systems are often used for both announcements and background music distribution. In order to adjust the level locally, volume controls can be used. In case of an (emergency) announcement the built-in relay can be activated to ensure that the message gets across at full level, independently of the setting of the volume control. The total load of the loudspeakers connected to the volume controls may not exceed its rated power. Next to volume controls also source selectors can be installed to select different music programs locally. The design and colour are unobtrusive in any interior. Ease of installation, operation and reliability has been optimised in the design. The U40 version volume controls and source selectors can be combined with Gira standard 55 system switchers and accessories. Safety aspects In common with all Bosch products, care is taken to meet high safety standards. These volume controls and source selectors comply with the relevant safety and installation regulations of EN 60065. All plastic parts are self-extinguishing according to UL 94 V 0.

Plena Voice Alarm System:

• The Plena Voice Alarm System is designed for public address and emergency evacuation in small-to medium-sized applications such as factories, offices, hotels, shopping malls, supermarkets, sports facilities, schools and universities. All the essential EVAC functionality – such as system supervision, spare amplifier switching, loudspeaker line surveillance, digital message management and a fireman’s panel interface – is combined with proven audio technology to guarantee excellent speech intelligibility and message delivery. 

The Bosch EVAC seal of certification:

•  Developed for easy operation under stressful conditions, the Plena Voice Alarm System complies with the tough IEC60849 standard (and its national equivalents). Only products that conform to this tough standard and pass our own rigorous testing routine are allowed to bear the Bosch ‘EVAC’ seal of certification.

PLENA table-top microphone LBB1950/00 The PLENA table-top microphone is a stylish high quality table-top uni-directional condenser microphone, mainly intended for making calls in a PA system. Its heavy metal base and rubber feet assures a stable position on any flat surface.The special design allows, however, also for neatly flush mounting in desk tops. The microphone is powered by the phantom power supply of the amplifier where it is connected to. Its momentary PTT (Press-To-Talk)-key not only switches on the microphone, but also provides priority contacts, matching the PLENA range of amplifiers. It is equipped with a fixed flexible 2 m cable and a 5-pin DIN connector for the balanced signal and the priority contacts. If no need exists for the priority contact, the microphone can also be connected to amplifiers with 3-pin XLR-inputs, using the DIN to XLR adapter. A green LED indicates that the microphone is active when the PTT-key is pressed.

The plena feedback suppressor uses a powerful DSP with a revolutionary patented algorithm to supress acoustic feedback. It eliminates feedback by actively filtering out the unwanted room reverb that leads to feedback using an echo cancellation and de-reverberation algorithm. By adding masked, inaudible noise to the output signal or by shifting the frequency of output signal by 5hz, the plena feedback suppressor is able to detect the reverb component of the signal and remove it before feedback occurs, leaving the original signal intact. 

The adaptive filter can be switched between fast mode and accurate mode. The fast mode is for situations where the microphone position changes over time, like in a discussion system with multiple switching microphones. The accurate mode is for situations with a fixed microphone position, such as on a pulpit where the acoustic environment is more stable. The adaptive filter is allowed to converge more slowly to suppress the reverb components even more. Depending on the acoustic environment and the chosen mode of operation up to 12db of additional gain is possible before acoustic feedback occurs.

• By rethinking the technology used in conventional line arrays, Bosch Security Systems have created the XLA 3200 (eXtended Listening Area). The XLA 3200 are a range of line array loudspeakers which bring a new dimension to speech and music reproduction.

 

• XLA 3200 loudspeakers create a clear, fuller sound which is distributed more evenly over a wider area. The speakers themselves, with their chic, slim design are intended to be seen as well as heard.

Better directivity:

• Advanced filtering and positioning of the loudspeaker drivers has improved audio directivity. Each speaker driver emits a dedicated frequency range to make sure the full range of frequencies are present throughout the main lobe. Side lobes are suppressed to a minimum.

• Columns for sound beaming : the lbc 3042/x2, lbc 3043/x2 and lbc 3044/x2 are column loudspeakers for speech and music reproduction in general purpose applications where beaming is desirable to overcome difficult reverberant conditions. The robust, solid mdf (medium density fibre board) enclosures are covered with a durable, easy-to-clean vinyl in choice of grey or off-white. The fronts are covered with fine woven cloth in dark grey (grey cabinets) or light grey (off-white cabinets), and feature attractive chamferred edges. 
• 12, 24 and 36 w models: the lbc 3042/x2 delivers 12 w (rated power) from four loudspeakers built into the column. The lbc 3043/x2 is a 24 w model with six loudspeakers built into the column. For even higher output power, the lbc 3044/x2 delivers 36 w. All models are available in grey and off-white. 
• Wall or floorstand mounting: the columns may be individually wallmounted or in clusters as required. For mounting, the loudspeakers are supplied with a sturdy aluminium one-point mounting bracket. This is fully adjustable in two perpendicular planes for accurate positioning. For temporary installations, the column loudspeakers may be mounted on a lbc 1250/00 floorstand in combi-nation with lbc 1251/00 floorstand adaptor (both available separately).

Voice alarm loudspeakers are specifically designed for use in buildings where performance of systems for verbal evacuation announcements is governed by regulations. The LBC 3086/41 is designed for use in voice alarm systems and is compliant with British Standard BS5839 part 8. The loudspeaker has built-in protection to ensure that, in the event of a fire, damage to the loudspeaker does not result in failure of the circuit to which it is connected. In this way, system integrity is maintained, ensuring loudspeakers in other areas can still be used to inform people of the situation. The loudspeaker has ceramic terminal blocks, thermal fuse and heat-resistant, hightemperature wiring. It can also be fitted with an optional fire-dome to increase protection of the cable termination.
